Smileys - People
The smileys, or smilies, has a long and colorful history. The smiley was originally created by Harvey Ball in 1963. His creation became the inspiration for the smiley emoticons popularized by MSN and AIM. Smileys are now a vital part of thousands of applications and software and people even complain that it's difficult to write mails on paper since there are no smileys to express their feelings.
